Dr. Sayali Amarapurkar currently serves on the IAM Nominations committee and Strategic Transitions Committee. She is a former IAM Board member (2020-2023).  Dr. Amarapurkar is a community-engaged research scholar and the Community Connections, Education & Research Director at SEWA-AIFW. She has also served as the South Asian Cultural Liaison for Edina Public Schools since 2018. With over two decades of experience spanning family social science, mental health advocacy, and nonprofit leadership, she works at the intersection of culture, community, and well-being. Dr. Amarapurkar leads culturally grounded initiatives that promote health, wellness, and belonging among South Asian families. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to strengthening community connections, advancing culturally responsive education, and ensuring that immigrant and refugee families have access to equitable, compassionate support systems. Known for her collaborative spirit and interdisciplinary approach, she partners with academic institutions, public health agencies, and community organizations to build programs that uplift South Asian voices and foster cross-cultural understanding. Her passion for culturally informed research and community advocacy continues to shape policies, programs, and practices across Minnesota’s social and educational landscapes.
